This morning I had the opportunity to learn how to make “Fluffy Omelets.” My cooking instructor was my 9 year old Granddaughter.
Evan came to spend the morning with me before going to her Aunt Christine’s for the afternoon. I asked her if she’d had breakfast and she said had, but was just about ready for “second breakfast.” (All you Hobbit fans will know about “second breakfast) She then asked me if she could fix me and Papa a “Fluffy Omelet.” Oh course I said; only if you’ll let me take pictures of you while you make them so I will absolutely know how it’s done and also so I’ll have a photo reminder if I forget. Evan agreed and away we headed to the kitchen.
The following are photo instructions for a “Fluffy Omelet.” I just can’t help myself. This was so stinkin’ cute that I had to share with you all. I did NOT help one bit or give any advice. I did ask questions and because she cooked, I cleaned up. I hope you are as entertained by our 9 year old future chef as we were.
And, All I have to say is….. “Look out AR, this little girl has a future in cooking!”
(The following captions are the recipe instructions in HER WORDS.
“First, get out all the stuff you want to put in them”
“Next, chop it all up kinda small.”
“You have to put the eggs whites in one bowl and the yellow part in another bowl.
Then you beat the whites until it looks like whipped cream.”

“See, how it looks like whipped cream? O.k., set it aside for now”
“Beat the yellow part of the eggs until it gets lighter, like butter.”
“Pour the yellow part into the whites and…..
"Very gently mix it all together. Just turn the rubber spatula over and over about 10 times”
“It should look like this after 10 turn overs.”
“Pour some oil in the frying pan and after a minute pour in the fluffy eggs.”
“In 3 minutes, turn it over and scoop up the meat and onions and put it on top.”
“Spread them around a little.”
“After about 3 more minutes, fold it in half like a taco.”
“Now, be careful, cuz the pan’s hot, but it’s suppose
to just slide out of the pan and onto the plate.”
“Here you go Grammy, I hope you like it!”
